The check
Your public name is backed by a person.
Before you issue, you verify your identity. The public artist name on the certificate is the name you chose. The check sits behind it, so a similar name cannot sign as you.
You can refuse the check. The account stays able to hold notes. It cannot issue a certificate of authenticity.
What you sign
A correction is a dated update, not a quiet edit.
The certificate carries the facts of the work and the images you put on the record. If something was wrong, you correct it in the open. The old line stays explainable.
- Title, year, medium, and dimensions
- The images that belong on the record
- A date on the signature, and a date on any later change
The object
Custody is tracked to the day.
A tamper-evident tag on the work links the object to the certificate. A loan has a start and a return. When the work leaves the studio, the record shows who has it, from which day, and for what.
